Pemberton, BC (also, longest post ever)

Last Friday we journeyed north to Pemberton, BC for the wedding of my good friend, Liz. We rented out an entire B&B just outside of town, surrounded by quiet, green fields with grazing horses & gorgeous views of the mountains. The whole party was eleven people & two kids. It was fun to have such an intimate group & I loved spending time with some of Liz's newer friends.

Our trip north included a stop at a peony farm in Everson, WA, to pick up flowers for both the bridesmaid bouquets & some vase bouquets. The peonies in the field were in sorry shape after a rain squall, but I was able to find quite a few that would last just the couple days we needed them. The grower, feeling apologetic about the state of the flowers, told me he wasn't going to charge me for the field peonies...I may have gone a bit overboard. We had to make room in the car for another bucket of flowers. Sadly I was too busy to think of taking a photo of the car full of Blake & his gear, our bikes & gear, & all the wedding decor, cupcakes & overflowing buckets of flowers. Upon our arrival, I got Blake to bed & then stayed up well into the night making bouquets & spending time with the girls.

Dawn seemed to come early (especially with Blakey not sleeping great), but the morning was full of fun preparation. Big kudos to Levi, as he had Blake most of the day & still managed to get some amazing photographs. Fortunately the day kicked off with a delicious breakfast. The bride got breakfast in bed & some quiet time with her girls & the kiddos.

By mid-morning preparations were happening all over the house. I was frosting orange creamsicle wedding cupcakes in the kitchen & others were re-arranging & decorating the ceremony site. And soon, all the ladies were upstairs getting ready (& writing last minute vows).

The gorgeous, intimate ceremony.

The ceremony was about 1pm, so we had all afternoon to relax & take many more photos. Right afterwards the sparkling wine was opened & we had a toast. Afterward we headed down to the restaurant at the local golf course for drinks, appetizers & more photos.

Back at the ranch, a local chef cooked a fabulous meal & we ate, drank & were merry right there in the lovely living space of the bed & breakfast.

Sunday morning was slow & relaxed & beautifully sunny again! The bride & groom shared their cupcakes before they hit the road for Canada's national parks.
 Congratulations Lizzy & Stevo!

I was so glad we had made the decision to stay another night, so we didn't have to spend Sunday packing up & driving. We intended to go for a family trail ride in North Whistler but Saturday night was perhaps Blake's worst to date so we were exhausted. Instead, we walked around Whistler Village, ate ice cream & visited with people along the way -- at our lunch stop we had three baby boys, all within three months of age & each from a different nation!

A fantastic & tiring weekend!
