Neil got over some fears on the way out.
I love this shelf
The views were great
Time for the hike out.
Relaxing
More coast line
It was even warm for a while.
Sandles are great
We also took time to play in the water.
And more waves
The crashing waves
The baby Seals
The sea life
..
Day two was about exploring.
And a fire
Enjoyed hot dogs
We did eventually make it to camp
Even a cool water fall.
At every corners
It was a great coast line
All of us.
We were up for the challenges
The hike did present some challenges on the way in.
We did have time to stop and take pictures
Rocket ship we found on the way.
Making small adjustments as we went
My wife so exected for the start.
Hiking in a group
The Start

Back from the coast

We have returned and I am currently downloading pictures of the trip. It was a lot of fun. We ended up blowing past third beach and going to Toleak Point. Seven of us went and it was a new experience for some.

At the spot we camped we were able to see several bald eagles, baby sea otters, and all the normal sea life.

More later......

Coast Time

Well we leave Saturday morning for the coast. Third beach is the location and it looks like group of 7 will be going. Hope to have good pictures for everyone when we return.

Sad Day :-(

My parents finally had to put Zerby down. He has been around since I was in fourth grade. Sad.

New Place

We have finally moved into the new place. It is small but very quiet which is nice. Not that I don't like yelling and screaming kids, but sometimes it is nice have the door open and not constantly have cars driving by. Anyway you are all invited to come have dinner with us we just need to get stuff put away.

It has been raining really hard for about an hour now. The rain started when it was still very sunny. Very weird weather right now. I think the drought is offically over after the last week of down pours.

Nerding it up

My wife is off for Shelton to see the midnight showing of Star Wars. I am sure she will have some type of review tomorrow.

Back from Ohio

It was a good trip. Great to see Grandma and spend time on the farm. The wedding was nice and Cedar Point was a blast.

Now back to moving. Packing and lugging things around. Anyone want to help on Saturday?

OKay--I have to share at least one bug that I saw in Honduras! This moth was under the eaves of a house & was about the length of a pencil.

The countryside in Honduras--those are banana trees in the foreground.

The young man on the right is a Heifer recipient of honey bees & training. Before this he had moved from the country to the city & worked as a nurse, but made only enough money to eat. He moved back to the country & began growing coffee & was able to subsist & diversify because of the training of Heifer International. The boxes are all hives that he has made to sell to other bee keepers.
He was to be married the day after this photo was taken & was making a bed for his wife. He was very proud & happy.

The wife & young daughter of a bee keeper we viisted. Many coffee farmers are now unable to survive on the sale of their coffee, as the market price of coffee has decreased so much. Heifer provides these farmers with honey bees & traning so that they have an alternative source of income--honey fetches a good price in Honduras.

This woman is from the indigenious tribe the Lencas & she is one of a group of women that are part of a coffee co-op (a partner of Heifer). They grow & roast their coffee in the traditional way.

Me & Juanita--she was eleven years old & very happy to be in school. The children were all so beautiful & happy.

Ah, the hammock!

This is Inez, an intergrated farmer. His family was given assistance by Heifer eight years ago. It was amazing to see how far he has come & how diverse his farm is, which provides better financial security as his family is not dependent on just one crop. He grows corn, beans, squash, tomatoes, papayas, pineapples, bananas, coffee, mahagony trees & also has cows, pigs, fish, bees & earthworms. His knowledge of the land & farming was incredible & everything was grown organically.

This is the cow that Inez received from Heifer eight years ago, enabling him to expand & diversify his farm & provide his family with better nutrition. Since receiving the cow, she has had five calves, one of which Inez passed on, fulfilling his promise to Heifer to pass on the gift.

Inez's farm was built on a steep ravine. He had terraced the entire hillside. This level had ponds full of tilapia fish, which they can eat or sell to other farmers involved in aquaculture.
