4 Months

Today was Blake's 4-month well check -- no surprise, he's a big boy.
Height: 26.3" -- 90% -- almost 6 inches since birth!
Weight: 16.5 lbs -- 75-90% -- more than double his birth weight!

New Developments
  • Interested in everything you do & imitates, especially blowing raspberries.
  • Rolling over consistently from tummy to back.
  • Grabs toys deliberately (& "fights" with them -- he argues often with Mr. Moose).
  • His first real laugh was a couple days ago (see video) & we are eagerly awaiting more.

52 - A Portrait a Week

A new project -- 52 photos of Blake, one each week of 2013.
Suggested by Rebekah, originally from here.
"A portrait of my children, once a week, every week."

It's not too late to join!
And I don't think the subject has to be children -- it could be pets, wildlife, a hamster...

Spring is Coming!

On Saturday we went to Blake's first official Mariner event -- Fan Fest at Safeco Field. Levi has never been before, as it's not really his crowd, but it was made more appealing by our season ticket holder status that got us two free passes, free parking & early entry before the rest of the crowds. Fortunately Blake is already geared out with some great Goodwill finds.

The new King's Court.

Probably my favorite of the day was watching Levi bat (unfortunately, no photos). There was a batting cage where one could try to hit a pitch "from Felix" -- the backdrop screen played a video of Felix pitching while a pitching machine actually threw the ball. After watching a couple grown men not even touch the ball, I watched Levi get up there & make contact with every single pitch that came at him. I know my husband is quite a bit better than your average recreational ball player, but I've never seen him bat hardball. It was pretty amazing to see his swing & wow did it look a thousand times better than the others I saw.

That, combined with the photos below, makes him pretty hot.

Walking the bases -- it was cool to see the stadium from down on the field.

Nap & new hat.

Heading home, all tuckered out.

Beach Visit

Every Thursday I look forward to my PEPS (Program for Early Parent Support) group gathering & for the little extra time with Blake that comes with it. Each week we meet at the house of one of the nine moms that make up our group -- today's meeting was at a lovely home out on Picnic Point in north Edmonds. Afterward, Blake & I drove the short distance to the tiny & wonderful Picnic Point Park & walked down to the beach.
It was so fun to see how interested Blake was in the water & the waves. I set him down so he could feel the rocks under his feet & put his bands in the sand & he really seemed to love it. When I picked him up to leave, he kicked & squirmed as if he couldn't wait to get down & run around the beach.

Books

Blake has really been getting into books. Especially this one called Jungly Tails from Auntie Chris.

Growing up fast.

Grandmas

Blake is a very lucky little boy. This month Grammy Lois came over to take care of him for a week & then Grandma Jo officially retired so she can be with him during the week. Such an incredible blessing! Blake loves time with his grandmas.

Sleep

Good news: Levi tells me that I have completely stopped snoring.
Bad news: this may be because I'm not ever actually asleep.

Snowshoeing

On New Year's Eve day Blake & I headed out to snowshoe with cousin Rob at Franklin Falls, just west of the Snoqualmie summit. The snow was deep, the edges of the falls frozen & Blake napped for half the hike.
