In my continuing coverage of the fall of the sport video game industry comes this news of ESPN's 15 year contract with EA sports.

It appears MLB is now close to signing with Take Two interactive.

While on the subject MLB has also sold the fantasy rights. I don't know how this will effect yahoo fantasy sports which are currently free.

This is a picture I scanned last night of my wife and I at our wedding. May 22, 2004 - If I write it enough I should remember it.

Juicer

As a wedding gift my wife and I got a Juicer. The thing is awesome. A pain to clean, but lots of energy packed into a little drink.

Anybody have good mixes? My favorite is a combo of pears, oranges, apples, and a yam.

Search for WMD has ended.

The NY times and several other papers are reporting that the White House is finally calling off the search for WMD's.

We were still looking? I thought it was painfully clear to everyone not only did they not exist most of America didn't care. Next thing you know people will be saying Iraq had nothing to do with 911.....oh wait. Why are we in Iraq again???

Kangaroo in Wisconsin?

You never quit know what you will find.

One of the best Darwins

A young Canadian man, searching for a way of getting drunk cheaply, because he had no money with which to buy alcohol, mixed gasoline with milk. Not surprisingly, this concoction made him ill, and he vomited into the fireplace in his house. The resulting explosion and fire burned his house down, killing both him and his sister.

Snow

My wife is very excited because it snowed last night. This is rare on this side of the state. I grew up in Spokane so I am not excited at all for snow. Not because I don't like it, but because the greater Seattle area can't function in snow. No one knows how to drive. SUV's and 4 wheel drive trucks figure out that snow won't stop them from going, but they usually find out too late that 4 wheel drive does not help you stop.

Hopefully it will melt today.

The End of Oil

I just finished "The End of Oil" by Paul Roberts. Here is an interview with the author.

The book was not only extremely well written it also defined Oil not as black gold, but simply as the current energy form our economy runs on. This energy form has costs ranging from price per barrel, to CO2 build-up, and even war. When I first picked up the book I was afraid it would just be a "boy cried wolf" read, but it was not at all. It is not an attempt to scare the reader it just is presenting facts and strategies to solve the coming problems.

While I don't want to sit and write a book report. You can find one here. I would like to point one very interesting excerpt:

Even a modest improvement in fuel-economy standards - say, thirty-two miles per gallon for cars and twenty-four miles per gallon for light trucks - would by 2010 be saving 2.7 million barrels per day - or nearly twice as much as could be pumped every day from the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge. p. 296
