The hike included 3 waterfalls, lots of moss, and a trail that quickly became a creek. The girls finally understood what Gortex does in hiking boots. It only took Bet and I 2 years to convince them that Merrel cross trainers weren't good hiking shoes.

The river itself was very murky and moving extremely fast.

A hobit lived here.

great pics! where's the boulder river?
It's out near Darrington, which is a little ways east of Arlington. A good place to find trails is the Washington Trail Association website. It's a great organization & they have a small list of winter hikes right now--that's where I found the Boulder River trail.
Amazing!! I miss washington!
