- emails with Alan, Mom, Boo & Chris about our snow adventures
- the crunch sound of walking in the snow
- yummy food & drink

- away from their families
- fleeing from their homes
- unemployed
- lacking food
- feeling alone
- battling mental illness
- facing violence
