I brought the kittens home this morning & they seem to be settling in well. They played all morning & entertained our house guests & now are fast asleep.
The grey & white fluffy one is named Troy. She was accidently listed on petfinder as a boy with the name Troy. We liked the name & it does really seem to suit her, so she is Helen of Troy, Troy for short.
The orange tabby is Calvin & he really is a boy. :)
Meet them for yourself...

Watches in 2 stores!
My ribbon watches are now being carried (& hopefully sold!) in two different stores-- one in Shoreline & one in downtown Seattle.
The downtown shop is called Trudy's Flowers & I am particularly excited about selling there as I have always admired Trudy's shop & love browsing there. Along with gorgeous flowers & arrangements, she sells pretty vases, jewelry, candles & other gifts, all eclectically & beautifully displayed.
Here they are & a glimpse of what the shop looks like.

A First for our Family
Looks like we will be having thanksgiving for the first time on this side of the state. Eliza and I have always gone back to Spokane, but this year my parents are coming over here. It should be fun. For those who are curious my mother is doing fine.

Global Warming and the cool things that melt
Looks like a giant _____ was found in Siberia. This website has some of the information on it. The video they shot was very compelling. It appears to maybe be a Mammoth, but it seems way to big. Urban Legend says there are thousands of Mammoths buried in the tundra that is Siberia. Makes you wonder what other creatures can be found.

Our house is officially warmed!
We had a successful housewarming party last night that began when my grandparents showed up at 3:50pm until we finally kicked Brian & Gina out at midnight! It was wonderful to have so many of our friends & family come & grace our house with laughter. At one point we had over twenty people in our little place! By the end of the evening, the beer was gone, all the food was gone, & two double batches of mulled wine had disappeared.
We feel truly blessed to have so many wonderful family & friends. It was a great evening & all are welcome back anytime!

Tea party
Saturday, October 1st was a day of festivities for the Gowey family. It was Aunt Kathy's 80th birthday celebration & all of her nieces & grand-nieces gathered at her house in Queen Ann for an autumn tea party. Lots of tea was drunk, finger food eaten, visiting & laughter, cake & presents, and even a quiz about the birthday lady. It was a special occasion for the third generation, it being our first time invited to the Aunties' famous tea parties--we were told if we behaved ourselves, we might be invited back.
The Aunties really know how to throw a tea party.
Our table complete with tea, fall decor & our KGB Quiz (Kathryn Gowey Bellis)
Four lovely ladies (my Aunt Beth, Aunt Kathy, Mom & Grandma)
The special auntie & her beautiful birthday cake.
The third generation behaving...
..and not behaving.
The incredible dollhouse we all enjoyed as kids & still do as adults.
My cousin/roommate Megan & her Mommy--can you tell they're related?

O.A.R.
of a Revolution
Over the past year this has become on of my favorite bands. They get no radio play (atleast the radio I listen to) in the Northwest so I usually stumble onto new CD's like this one.
I have only been through the new CD a few times and it don't have any signiture song like the Wanderer or Poker, but it is a very good effort. Plus my wife has this cool shirt. If you look at it for a while it has a great saying to it.
A bonus when I picked up the CD was I found another live album. With another version of Poker this one 17 minutes long! Good thing it is one of the greatest songs ever written.
This morning I went to their web site and got even more good news. On halloween 10/31/05 they are playing the UW Hub. Who is coming with us? I know you have heard their music if you have ever been in my car for an extended amount of time.

So, we didn't take any photos during the Kitsap bike ride, but they took one of us! I just got the email today--here's the link. It's not very big, but if you ever wanted a silly photo of us on our bikes you can now purchase one! :P

Kitsap Color Classic & Memories
We rode the Kitsap Color Classic last Sunday & had a fun time despite the rain. We rode onto the ferry & biked a big loop from Kingston, through Hansville & Indianola, & back around to the Kingston ferry dock--about 36 miles.
The fall leaves would have been gorgeous in the sunlight, but they still looked pretty, plastered to the wet, wet road. We had some fun downhills, some tough uphills, some cranky drivers, but no flats or injuries! I was hoping to make the turn into the Miller Bay area where my Dad used to live. I have such fond memories of that neighborhood.
Miller Bay Estates...playing Star Wars & the map game in the woods, knowing all the ins & outs & cul-de-sacs as I road my step-mom's bike everywhere, summer afternoons spent in the clubhouse pool, handstand contests in the front yard & stealing my step-mom's yummy tomatoes off the plants on the front porch, my brother's friends having crushes on me & writing hilarious love letters, having Ziggy, the wonderful family dog, take us on walks (or Hearn family outings) around the neighborhood, picking blackberries with my little sister until our hands & mouths were purple, catching garter snakes, & hitting flying termites at dusk, Ziggy always eating something off the counter, Dad's pancake breakfast & Carolyn's Tab, Star Wars marathons on rainy days, dancing in the living room, & eating chocholate chip cookies from the freezer.
Ah, childhood memories are sweet & I wanted to relive some of mine on a ride through Miller Bay, past the old mobile home on Woodruff (if it's still there) & by the house that my Dad designed & built on Harborview Drive. But by the time we came to the turn off to Miller Bay Road we were soaked through & I was getting tired--we'll come back on another day & do the ride down memory lane.
